Thanks Chris,

when I saw your hind it flashed in front of my eyes.
Now. The first scene of the movie is 11th November 1918 and the last scene 9th May 1945, and the star does the same thing on both occasions.
Which movie is it.

OK, I'll step up.

Which war movie was about a private commando raid to destroy a railway gun bombarding England from across the channel which featured one of the heroes who had a broken neck?

Invasion Quartet (1961)

Starring Terrance Alan Sean Milligan, Bill Travers, John Le Mesurier, Eric Sykes, Thornley Walters, et al

Very good movie and very funny. Had forgotten about it until (saw it once many years ago).

Ok, new one.

Not exactly a war movie. Men stranded in the desert discover a WW2 German tank burried in sand and fix it up to escape. Name the movie.

Austro Hungarian WW1 movie

#165

Post by Tim Bowler » 25 Jun 2007, 17:45

Hi there

I am new to this wonderful forum so please excuse me if somebody has asked this question before. I am trying to track down a movie made about the KuK Austro Hungraian army in - I think Gallicia or somewhere like that - on the outset of WW1.

It's a movie really concerned with the mental disintigration of the army unit based in an isolated outpost. Various people gradually go mad in the film, and in the AH army evacuates the post -- and at the end the Russians attack. And that's all I know about it!

Except it was doing the art house cinema circuit in the UK in c. 1983. So for my money it may be a Czech/Polish/Russian film. But I know no more than that. If any of you here can help I would be very grateful.

best wishes

Tim :?
