"Battle of Britain" having a ton of original and similar-looking aircraft (making the fleet used for the movie the 12th biggest airforce at the time, IIRC), real planes in dogfights instead of the CGI used today, and effects like an original WW2-vintage hangar blown up being poor production values? My, you are really hard to please...

not exactly Worst movie but badly flawed.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captains_of_the_Clouds
1) Idiot Bush Pilot blows chance of helping the War effort as an Instructor by going too low and crashing plane in lake and injuring student pilot; then he stunts over a wings ceremony in which his best friend gets killed; then when he contracts as civilian pilot using an alias of his dead friend--who was also washed out of flight training because of his drinking problum! {certainly the CAF would have kept a up to date list of WASHOUTS NOT ACCEPTABLE!} and lastly he crashes his damaged bomber into a enemy fighter {which in the flying sequnce is a painfully obvious Hurricane painted to look like a ME 109{!} not withstanding the Me 109 didnt have the range to go from France to west of England!!!! {remember Battle of Britain when Me 109 had only 20 minutes of fuel left!} lastly the two plances crashing...quite clearly models....lastly Dutton would certainly had been before a Board of Inquiry for letting a irresponsible pilot like Maclean fly a RCAF plane--even as a civilian! It does have some redeeming qualities--its in color and Billy Bishop stars as himself

If fact its a bit on the par with John Wayne's the Flying Tigers--two pilots one responsible one a irresponsible dope; the dope gets grounded after he accidentally gets his best friend killed and then after being gunshot in the leg dives his stricken bomber into a enemy bridge/Train.....

Windtalkers-was just flawed-in fact according to one account I read-the nearest a codetalker ever got shot was when some US troops mistook his native american features for Japanese and nearly killed him-they didnt only because his bodyguard stopped them!
Battle of The Buldge--should have been named Battle of the Bungled Movie-for example the part where the German Col gives a pep talk to his tank units-that was based in a real german newsreal-except he survived the war and actually gave a Documentary interview!
LAstly "Lifeboat" it was a good idea various different ethnic allies have to put aside their differences to fight the Axis....so painfully idiotic..the evil villian killed by his victiums boot!!!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Destroyer_%281943_film%29
Fiction a badly damaged US Destroyer "john paul Jones" sinks a IJN Sub and survives! :welcome:
Fact a US destroyer "USS Borie" sank a german sub and sank as well

The Thin Red line
unrealistic begining of how the Bid red One got its insignia--from a dead german--but never happened this waY!
also Sherman tanks disguised as German tanks.....

The Longest Day
Spoiled...wife of French resisitance leader didnt blow up bridge....a german did put his boots on backwards BUT WAS NOT SHOT by a wounded RAF Pilot....RAF Pilot Campbell did not exist..at least not in book...Col. Priller flew FW-190 not Me 109 and flew east to west not west to east.....The Rangers did destoyed Germant Artillery guns...about a mile from Point do hoc....

The WWII Spaghetti-Westerns made in the sixties, e.g.

- Dirty Heroes (Dalle Ardenne all'inferno): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062855/ - Poor mans "Dirty Dozen"

- Commandos: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0062819/

- Eagles Over London (La battaglia d'Inghilterra): http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0064571/ - Poor mans "Battle of Britain"

...and last but not least

- The Bridge at Zupanja: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0072746/ - Poor mans "The Battle of Neretva" made in West Germany

Sorry to disagree with most of the posters :P ,
but Imo Thin Red Line is a real masterpiece, one of the best movies ever produced in the history of the cinema  .
The question is that it cannot be considered a war movie but, but a movie that talks about life and death, good and evil, man and nature, man and God...

Likewise, the beautiful and imaginative Inglorious Bastards by Tarantino, is not a war movie, but instead a horror fable, somewhat comparable (under certain points of view) to the poetic Train de Vie bu Radu Mihaileanu

There's lots of bad ones but Inglorious Basterds is uniquely wretched.

Inglorious Bastards should have been made into a comic book...about as beleivable years ago when I read a "SGt Rock" comic in which Sgt Rock and company are sent on a mission to capture none other then .....ADOLF HITLER!!!! :P

Trouble with Thin Red Line..one thing is that the squad stays together throughout the war...forgetting attrition losses such as disaease; wounds; MIA; POW; Shell shock; suicide...and just being worn out...especially poor is that the "German Tanks" are actually Shermans....

Eh? TRL took place in the Pacific, and there were losses.

I guess you share that sentiment with about 14 other people in the world. Also, it isn't a movie, but a TV miniseries.

I know it's a series, so what?

I really think it's the most boring war series/movie ever made. A guy called 'Doc' looking desperatly for scissors and bandage for about 45 minutes, running from one wounded to another. Then taking care of each wounded for ten minutes. And again. There is no suspence what so ever in that awful serie. Eeverytime you think the action is gonna start, a field hospital sequence or something like that pops up. In between some stills from an officer, and a few rounds of fire.

Well, you are entitled to your opinion. It's just that you are in a tiny minority.
