New movie Heydrich
Heydrich as portrayed by German actor Detlef Bothe in featured Czech movie Lidice, which comes out in July this year.

Re: New movie Heydrich
I hope to see that as I enjoy foreign films better than American when it comes to Third Reich movies. I hope they will make one of Himmler someday which is long overdue.

Re: New movie Heydrich
Interesting, it seems that European movies on WW2 are WAY better than anything Hollywood makes. The uniforms seem historically accurate and it looks pretty legit.
Re: New movie Heydrich
Here's an interesting web page on it. Hope it comes to the U.S.A. soon.

Re: New movie Heydrich
That article says the movie is finished and the last scene to shoot was Heydrich assassination attempt in 1942.
Re: New movie Heydrich
An interesting article on this subject. The Czech Memorioal over what Hitler and Heydrich did to that town is heart wrenching. It's hard to imagine that Hitler and Heydrich were members of the human race.

Re: New movie Heydrich
I haven't seen the movie yet, but the critics have torn it to pieces. It is apparently full of historic inaccuracies, so not really for someone, who has done some serious research on the subject matter.
Re: New movie Heydrich
Lots of times the critics over dramatize things when they are panning a film and the film comes out pretty good after all. Hope this is one of those times. I will watch it anyway.Dragunov77 wrote:I haven't seen the movie yet, but the critics have torn it to pieces. Re: New movie Heydrich
I never thought the Tom Cruise film about von Stauffenberg [Valkeriye?}was very good: it had great potential, but all I remember are the fake-looking uniforms.
Heydrich's story also has great potential, [Wansee Conference/killed by assassins in his car] and the Lidice aftermath in itself is worthy of a movie on it's own terms.

fake looking uniforms? are you serious? that film had great authenticity.pacifritz wrote:I never thought the Tom Cruise film about von Stauffenberg [Valkeriye?}was very good: it had great potential, but all I remember are the fake-looking uniforms.

Re: New movie Heydrich
I thought the costumes were not 'lived-in' looking , Sebastian: they looked starched, creaky and stiff. Yes the German Uniforms were better quality than the British for example, but the Valkeyrie film costumes never rang true for me at least.
Re: New movie Heydrich
Where do we get this film? English speaking or English subtitiled of course.

Hollywoodized history doesn't do anything for me.
