They fought one battle with the Tiger. Thinned out the Shermans a bit.countess wrote:Hallo,

Hallo,
Brad pitt's Fury and crew stood up against 300 SS soldiers......in make believe war movie.
Wittman's crew destroyed up to 14 tanks and personnel carriers, along with anti-tank guns within space of 15minutes in real war battle.

"He succeded in knocking out 15 heavy enemy tanks in a very short time. An additional six tanks were hit and their crews forced to bail out"
This (from the award citation) is a total of 21 tanks.
Better than I'd had thought.

I think that was important to point up Wardaddy's command of the language.countess wrote:ThE Germans spoke in german, thats another good thing along with the tiger.

You didn't bother to actually read the discussion about Wittmann, did you?countess wrote:Harro wrote:No he did not:countess wrote:Wittman's crew destroyed up to 14 tanks and personnel carriers, along with anti-tank guns within space of 15minutes in real war battle.

Michael Kenny wrote:If I take heed Wittmann's claim of an initial three tanks as he hit the road and count the one tank photographed as in that area then add 1 Firefly to give:
1 Firefly
2 Stuart tanks
4 HQ Cromwells.
1 Sherman OP tank
1 Cromwell OP tank.
That is 9 at the most.
Around a dozen half-tracks and carriers.

Fury (2014), WW2 Rambo ala Sherman Crew
Although it's nice to have real Tiger there, I see that in the end it's too ridiculous when 300 crack SS troops couldn't do what a little HJ boy could in the early scene. Of course there's a lot more interesting aspect in this movie. Can someone add more?

This movie was one of the worst war films I have ever seen.

For some part of it, yes, but it's actually quite honest in depicting how the war changes people (just like "Unsere Vätter Unser Mutter"). BTW, note in the pic the SS marching (actually goose-stepping while singing in the field of battle!) with some of the Panzerfaust visible, but when the battle started, it took them a long while before they opened "another" Panzerfaust from crates!

A single man with a 50mm AT gun loaded/sighted/fired his gun and destroyed 13 tanks. He also held off infantry attacks for 3 days killing 100 of them. That must mean he wounded c 300 and repelled say 500?
Frankly the film is more believable.
