Millitary Art as desktop wallpaper

#1

Post by KHeitmann » 13 Mar 2014, 10:06

I've collected images of some interesting military artwork over the years, and have used the more suitably-sized ones for my dekstop's background wallpaper.

A small sample of some of the images on my desktop:

Thanks. I'm always looking for hi-res artwork. The only thing I usually do to them is trim off any white border or outline around the edge of the image. Most of these came from military art websites that sell prints and paintings. Lots of good material there.

I wonder if anyone else does this. Beats the heck out of seascapes and clouds as a background. :)

I'm no photographer and I don't have access to such subject matter, so I use military paintings and artwork.

I do have some hi-res images from various military services that I could use. I just picked up a nice hi-res in-flight image of a A-10 Thunderbolt II ("Warthog") a couple weeks ago from the U.S. Air Force photo gallery.

That's a nice one. I've seen it before, but never in that resolution. I just changed my image last week too. I changed from the desert 109s to the 109G and B-17 image.

This military art, IMHO. (We could use the imagefit code, I think.)

I was going to say, "or a wider monitor" . :)

I resized my images above before posting them. They are only 33% the size of the originals. I didn't want to tax the board too much with full-sized images.

I found a number of hi-res military images on wallpaperup.com. They were free and come in a large variety of screen resolutions. I found the Typhoon / Tiger column image above there too.

I have cataracts, so I use a 23" Monitor. 8-)

My monitor is a 23" widescreen. I had cataracts in both eyes, but both lenses were replaced. Well worth having it done.

I have to wait for the VA to decide I'm blind enough. After they do that I have to wait a year or so for the procedure.
