War games on AHF?

#1

Post by wenty » 22 Jul 2014, 03:24

Hi all,

I hope i've posted this in the right section.

Many years ago when I was previously active on this site, there used to be groups of members who would form pretend armies, each with a unit / division at their disposal and a nominated general as leader, facing off against each other. Each person would be equipped with a map of the battle area and marks showing where each force was. Every week or so, a new round of orders would be issued and an independent judge would decide on losses, ground gained or lost, and ultimately which side was the winner of the battle.

Unfortunately my memories are a little vague now as this was quite a few years ago, but does anyone on here remember being part of this? Does it still happen and if not, would memberrs be interested in starting it again?

Cheers,
Adam.

Hi Tirdad,

Thanks for joining in. I will try and find the original thread if it still exists, but it was a long time ago so it might be gone. However, we'll need to try and get a few more people involved first to create a good game! Anyone? :D

Cheers,
Adam.

Thanks Waldorf. Unfortunately we're probably still about a 10-12 participants away from being able to have a proper game, as there needs to be one independent "judge" if you like, and one commander for each side. If we can drum up some more interest, i'm sure we could have a very interesting battle. Spread the word!

Cheers,
Adam. :)

I will definitely spread the word, because I think this would be a great idea. Please let me know if enough people sign up.

Thanks,

Chris

Hi Waldorf,

Perhaps we should set up another thread in The Lounge or mass message some members? I'm sure there'd be plenty of people interested but there needs to be a good method for communicating with them. Will give it some thought.

Cheers,
Adam.
