Are you guys going to see the new movie "Anthropoid"?

It's supposed to be about the assassination of Reinhard Heydrich.

The real Anthropoid was very light on shootings and explosions. So unless they story has been radically improved there is going to be lots of talk in that movie...

I did not see the new "Anthropoid" movie yet but I can also recommend Czechoslovak movie "Atentát" (Assassination). It was filmed in 1965 and it´s definitely not bad. It´s not 100% accurate but it is quite an impressive piece of film-making (however, as an apology to authors, it should be said that most of the inaccuracies are those situations which were wide-spread myths about the operation and its aftermath, some of them were still not uncovered back in 1965...). I´ve made short market reconnaissance and it seems that all DVDs available on eBay are only in Czech, w/o English subtitles. However, believe it or not, there is a complete version with English subs available on Youtube. I believe that there is a copyright issue with it so no link will be provided but...

The trailed says of Heydrich "there's nobody above him in the Nazi hierarchy but Hitler!"

I hope the uniforms in the movie are more accurate than the one in the poster.

Hi Dennis

It looks like the SS badge was added for the poster; no doubt to help differentiate the uniform from a thousand others for the general public.
Are there any other obvious inaccuracies?

What about the shootout in the church? Didn't that last some hours?
What about the aftermath - Lidice et al?

Sorry about that
Himmlers Hirn heisst Heydrich
Himmler's brain is called Heydrich
[Laurent Binet's] subject is a daring assassination mission undertaken by two Czechoslovakian parachutists in 1942: Operation Anthropoid.
Its target is Reinhard Heydrich, “the most dangerous man in the Third Reich”, according to Adolf Hitler.
Heydrich is officially Himmler’s number two in the SS, but everyone in the organisation believes “Himmler’s Hirn heisst Heydrich” (HHhH): Himmler’s brain is called Heydrich

Unfortunately the church was a low-intensity fight with hand guns, not very spectacular. There wasn't any fighting in Lidice at all.

You are right. There was no fighting in Lidice - just a massacre.

But - Wow!!
You must certainly like your excitement at high levels.
173 shootings in Lidice over the course of a day [+ more in the following days] would be more than enough for me.

Apparently the church siege is a load of silliness. Dozens of slaughtered Waffen-SS (maybe the director saw the equally-silly Fury or maybe the original 70s movie) when they only had several wounded IRL. IIRC the SS surrounded the church, there was some brief gunfire, and then the Germans came in and found the assassins dead.

Honestly I'd rather see a fact-based biography of Heydrich's life instead of an action movie.
