Afrika Korps Uniforms in "Indiana Jones" Movies

I have only seen these movies in "bits and pieces" so I have not seen the credits. Anyone know what company provided the uniforms for the Afrika Korps soldiers in these movies?

From what I've heard, the AK uniforms were mostly original items.

...BTW, can anyone explain how the Afrika Korps (not formed until 1940) could be operating in PRE-war Egypt?

Second...anyone OUTSIDE Hollywood would know that Egypt pre-WWII was owned by Britain and had British soldiers specifically posted there to keep out foriegn armies.

Yet at no time does the British army show up at the Well of Souls and evict the Germans from British property.

Movies, mate, movies, anything can happen there.
In one Chuck Norris Movie, once in the same movie he killed the same Vietnamise Soldier 3 times.

Ill watch the dvd tonight, in the makeing of section i think they tell where they got all the uniforms, and yes they were all original and if i remeber they picked them up cheap!!!

And also on a further note, the german's did have members of there archalogical teams searching the globe in the thirtys for these holy treasures, theres a book that just came out "cant remeber the name" but it's about himmlers troops in tibet searching for the begginings of the arian race, it has pictures of troops wearing Afrika pith style helmets and uniforms in the thirtys.

No problem, i didnt get a chance to watch it yet, my wife hates the movie, so ill have to wait for her to leave for a bit, but as soon as i do ill post more info.

one cool fact i remember is the u-boat used in raiders was leased to them by Das-boat, same boat used in that movie.

The uniforms were all originals, no info on where they purchased them, the U-boat was from Das-boat "they rented it from them before they started filiming the mini series, and the U-boat pen that " in the movie was in a cave" was in france, and was all original right down to the german writeing on the wall's.

If you watch the movie closely, when they are sailing in the U-boat to the base, they sail to a Italian island south of Greece. So I guess the "Africa Corps" was just suppost to represent a early Italian-German Axis cooperation. (in the movie anyway)

Yes all the uniforms were originals, Where they were obtained I dont know.

I saw in another forum that the uniforms were sold from East Germany of all places, from an original stockpile that probably had some sortof heavy influence in the NVA uniform.

But yes, they may have meant eastern Germany (referring to the eastern part of west germany, or maybe west berlin) but ja, that what I read.
