Hello Dann Falk:
Yes, was only another example for Lant's vehicles list.

The very low budget English 1966 movie "It Happened Here" was completely authentic in its vehicles and equipment, having a running Jagdpanther, nebelwerfer, 37mm pak, SdKfz 251/1, as well as the 251/11 rocket launching version, plus numerous Kübelwagens and Schwimmwagens. Kevin Brownlow, one of the producers wrote a book about the problems they had making a very budget film while trying to maintain complete authenticity. The film also depicted in some part Bosnian and Indian Legion Waffen-Grenadier units.

Authenticity is relative here, as the movie was actually depicting the later days of the German occupation of Britain! Many of the units depicted were supposed to be fictitious British Waffen-SS formations, including the "Black Prince "Panzer Division. One of the classic scenes in the movie has a British Bobby on a Bicycle cycling down a lane a bit to pass by a Jagdpanther! No idea where the vehicles are today.

Nice pics! Unfortunately, I'm not sure any of the vehicles is original German stuff, even if some of them might have original WW2 parts. The StuG is a converted British FV432. They did go the extra mile by chopping up a couple of vehicles and adding a sixth roadwheel in order to get the correct number. The "Marder" is a converted Swedish SAV m/43, but as both vehicles were based on Skoda tanks, it is hard to tell the difference. The Sdkfz 251s are probably converted Czech OT-810, which were basically the German vehicle with a roofed over fighting compartment, so also very hard to tell the difference. The "Jagdpanther" is a T-55 conversion, ant the "Tigers" are probably converted T-34s, previously seen in SPR. The "Sdkfz 222" is built on a Land Rover chassis. Anyway, it was nice to see that they had made an effort to make the vehicles look like the real deal, instead of the US M48 with a Balkencreuz slapped on the turret.

The fake Tiger tank is the same of "Saving Private Ryan" ( From a T-34 ).

More « Tiger I » are converted, in films such as " Hot Snow " (1972), and " Liberation " (1969).

"Original" by stretching it a bit would be to say that the SU-85 in "Wheels of Terror"/"The Misfit Brigade" was a German tank, if a Beutepanzer counts.

I recall seeing one of the worst German tanks, in a movie called "Attack", this vehicle which looked like it was made out of card board, crushed one the US soldiers in a street.

Yan.

As far as I remember it was a Stuart light tank playing a heavy Tiger tank. Pathetic.

Hi there. I have seen Tiger in real life in some museum and I was shocked how well build it is comparing with Russian T-34 for example.

Just wanna say that I personally, to this day, can not get over the use of a Leopard in place of a Panther in A Bridge Too Far. I love the movie, but it drives me crazy every time I see the damn thing! xD

Also; RIP Sean Connery :( You will be missed!

This subject was brought up earlier in the thread: but the Marder III M in saving private Ryan —not the one Tom Sizemore takes out with the Bazooka, the one hit with Molotov cocktails — is astonishingly authentic for a rebuild. Albeit, the way it was used was not…no way a commander would send a Marder III M into a tight contested urban area without even an MG mounted on the rail bar.
