The official AHF Imperial Germany quiz thread

Discussions on all aspects of Imperial Germany not covered in the other sections.
Longtime forum member Walter W. Sapp, aka "Walterkaschner" (1930 - 2006) contributed greatly to this particular section during his four-year AHF membership; it has therefore been renamed in his honor.

Hello!
A German ship was named by this man in 1930s - and she even managed to survive WW2.

hi,

OK, time ran out on this one.

The picture shows Chief Petty Officer Wilhelm Heidkamp, who saved the battle cruiser SEYDLITZ in the Doggerbank engagement (January 24, 1915) from exploding by opening the red-hot water cooling system wheels with his bare hands.

a WW II destroyer (Z 21) was named after him.

The thread is declared to be open for the next volunteer.
