Hello,

After this highly decorated officer (maybe you can explain some of the decoration to me), i looked through my collections of generals, to find one with not so many decorations.
I found this 'Generalmajor'.

Name this Generalmajor!

paulus

Karl, the General we are looking for, was born March, 3. 1858 in Mainz (Hessen) and died Mai, 14. 1924 in Vienna (Generalmajor Dec. 17. 1914). In 1915 he became the 'Stellvertreter des Militärgeneralgouverneurs in russisch Polen'.
Heinrich, his brother (Generalmajor May, 26. 1924), was Commander of the 'Gruppe Fella' on the Tyrolian front. He was verry sucessful, so he was allowed to add 'Fella' to his name.

Hello,

time for a new question.

It is the 18th February 1853 on the 'Kärntnertor-Bastei' in Wien/vienna.
What happened here a few seconds earlier?
Who knows the name of 3 persons who are in the picture? - And who can name 4 people?

regards,
paulus

Hi,

fine that the thread is not dead.

It´s the assassination on Franz Joseph I. by Janos Libény. FJ´s aide de camp Count O´Donnel and the butcher Josef Ettenreich (who became nobiltated for that) saved the emporer´s life.

absolut correct! - ok not verry tricky.

But can you name 4 personsn the first picture?
we have Josef Ettenreich, Franz Joseph I. and O´Donnel (in the middle from left to right) and Janos Libény is not in the first picture.

so who is number 4?

Ok, here is the story.

Sixty years later, in 1913, the 'Neue Wiener Tageblatt' wrote, that in Vienna the last eyewitness of this attack is still alive. His Name: Tit. Fmlt d. R. Alexander von Alexander. He wrote the following lines to this newspaper.

'Der 18. Februar 1853 war ein schöner Tag. Ich war damals ein Schüler im St. Annenstift, ein Junge von neun Jahren und ging an der Hand meiner Gouvernante ...`(you can read his his statement here: http://anno.onb.ac.at/cgi-content/anno? ... =4&zoom=33)

I think we can assume that the child on the left side is the later Fmlt. Alexander von Alexander and the woman behind is his governess.

Hello,

Seven generals but only one destiny.
Who are these generals and what do they have in common?
