Austrian attempt to bring back Kaiser Karl

#1

Post by HazelFrance » 05 Nov 2013, 13:49

I'm in the process of setting up a web-site on my grandfather, Josef Kolbe, an officer of the A-H army, who took an active part in WW1. According to hints in his papers and family hearsay, he was involved in an attempt by the Austrians to restore Kaiser Karl to the throne, headed in Vienna by von Cramon. Does anyone have any information about this episode in the aftermath of the war? Volume 7 of Österreich-Ungarns letzter Krieg 1914-1918 perhaps covers it, but it's the only volume that's not available online, and there don't seem to be any other online sources. The Hungarian attempts to restore Karl are quite well documented and one of the leaders, Anton Lehar, might well have encouraged him to join the Austrian attempt, as he was the brother of my grandfather's friend, Franz Lehar, the composer.

Thanks in advance,
Hazel
