Czapka in German Army ?

Was polish Czapka in service with cavalry units in german army during WW I , as shown Erich von Stroheim
on the picture, or was a fictional uniform ?

it's a czako (shako in English). Czapka = cap.

In the book Military Uniforms Visual Encyclopedia it is confirmed through an illustration and an accompanying caption that the Czapka was indeed an official/standard part of the German Uhlan Cavalry uniform.
