Uniform identification: Zagreb c. 1914

#1

Post by njuzer » 28 Oct 2014, 14:34

This is a photograph of my great grandfather taken in Zagreb, around 1914. He was a teacher, born in Osijek in 1891. I found his military identification issued 25 years later which stated that he was a sergeant and served 3 years in war.

His trousers in this picture have Hungarian details, but his buckle has k.u.k. emblem.

Was he a member of Croatian part of Honvéd (Hrvatsko kraljevsko domobranstvo) or Common Army? Which regiment?

Thank you in advance!

As far as I can see on the pic he was member of the common army (k.u.k. Armee) and he served in an infantry regiment which belonged to the hungarian regiments (Transleithanien) who had those hungarian style trousers.

It´s hard to say to which regiment he belonged because we had to know the color of his collar and of the buttons (gold or silver).

The pics show us an private and was taken before he became sergeant. I would assume that he entered regular military service in
1911 - 1914 and was recalled with begin of war and was promoted to his rank during WW1.
