Unidentifed Oberst
Unidentifed Oberst
I am trying to work out who this Oberst is and I am hoping that some one may be able to provide a clue as to his name or even part there of.
I have previously been lucky enough to have the inscription translated ('As cordial remembrance of you predecessor at Landsturm 11' ), but that person couldn't offer an opinion on the name.
Regards,
Ian

Greg,
Oberst Engelbert Zuzzi. He retired in 1911 and was recalled as a wartime duration Oberst.
All I need now is the identity of the predecessor who presented the card to him.

Ian

Re: Unidentifed Oberst
Hi all,
I have a similar problem. I found an old photograph with FMLT Ludwig von Fabini and Oberst Adalbert von Balassa (Béla Balassa) of the 6th Korps. There's someone else on the picture - it seems "Major Ensor", but did not find anyone with this name. Does anyone have information about him?

Re: Unidentifed Oberst
I have looked thought everything I have and can not locate a Major Ensor. Maybe he has been misidentified or his name spelt incorrectly? A staff list for VI Korps would certainly help prove or disprove the existence of your Major Ensor.

Re: Unidentifed Oberst
Thank you, Ian!
I tried to find a staff list, but unfortunately there are no majors on the lists of austro-hungarian-army.co.uk (that's where I found the other two). I also wrote an e-mail for the Military Record Office of Hungary a few months ago, but they haven't answered yet.
Do you have any ideas or tips where can I find such a list?

Hi Katja,
I doubt your Major Ensor is a Hungarian, but you never know. I am stumped on where to search next for your mystery Major.

Ian
