Supply section of Austro-Hungarian Army

#1

Post by keith A » 26 Dec 2016, 16:49

Can anyone tell me what a supply section was called in the AH army during the war? I assumed it would be Verpflegung Abteilung but can't find a match. My interest is in the service of Milos Zak, a Czech officer who was, to quote in "vozatajský Vozatajského section no.16" of the AH Army in Serbia and in Italy 1914-16.

regards

Keith

Keith,

Miloš Zák was a Leutnant in der Reserve of Traindivision Nr. 16.

Many thanks Glenn. I think he began the war in Serbia as a Fahnrich and was promoted to Leutnant d.R in May 1915 just after arriving on the Italian Front.

Keith,

indeed. He was promoted to Fähnrich on 1.1.13 and commissioned as a Leutnant in der Reserve on 3.12.14. He was further promoted to Oberleutnant in der Reserve on 1.11.16.

Many thanks Glenn. You seem to be very well informed. In my notes I have copied the tranlated phrase "In the Austro-Hungarian army Milos Žák completed a "one-year volunteer at the school PP (pehotni polk?). 78". However I am not sure how this ties in with his service in the Traindivisions 2 and 16.

My dates for his promotions are also slightly different, is this because he is confirmed as an officer in the k u k regular army?

best regards

Keith

Hi Glenn

My father Zoltán Ladányi was a Leutnant in der Reserve assigned to Traindivision Nr. 6. Are you able to provide me with any guidance please on where I might find out more about this supply unit or indeed the supply service in general?

I have my father's medal citations from the Kriegsarchiv in Vienna and these provide some information on the Armee, Korps and Divisions at the time his medals were approved. I'm using this information to work my way through Stan Hanna's translations and the associated maps to try and guess where TD Nr 6 may have been posted. But typically only front line fighting units are mentioned in the Hanna documents and the associated ORBATS.

Any guidance would be most appreciated thanks.

Cheers!
Stephen
