Help with identifying badge ?Austrian-Hungary?

Postby DarkP on 01 Nov 2010 17:52

Hi,
can you help me with this please?

I found it on position of Austrian-Hungary army... I am not sure what it is... The crest should be Lower Austria... Any more info?
Thanks

I have a similiar looking "hat device" in gilt with a differant shield design.....came with a seperate gold cockade with
green velvet center.....and several other Forestry or Jaeger related items....I always "assumed" it has a Visor hat emblem for a 1920s/30s era "State" or "Private" Forestry (or Hunting) Reserve.....always assumed mine to be German....
I'm sure pre-Anschluss Austrians wore similiar insignia.....similiar insignia also in "Assmann Catalog"......

It looks very similar to the Austrian interwar cap badge. The only difference is the motif on the shield, which might be for a particular Austrian state.
