The gun appear to be a 279 MM 35 caliber M 1887. I am trying to identify the battery.

Probibly I should have described it as a 280 MM not 279 MM to prevent confusion. The roundup to the 280 figure is more common although the 279 MM is the russian designation and true caliber. Much as with the german 280 MM naval gun.

Hello,

For the post 393, I think the date is spring 1918.
I have a similar photograph of this battery but with the german Battle-Cruiser "Goeben" ("Yavuz") in sight in front of the battery and a german soldier on one gun.
The state of the ground of the battery is the same of your photograph.
Yours sincerely,
Guy François.

Nobody for the mine thrower ??

Well, here another image from EBay, The gun is a captured french 75mm Mle 1897 field gun, modified by germans as AA gun with a new carriage.

Does somebody know which was the German designation of this gun ? number modified ?

Sturm78,

The gun was rebored to a 77 mm caliber. I think that the new designation was:
7,7 cm L/35 (franz.)
