Hello Sturm78 ,
a) These 25 cm Belgian CD howitzers are very obsure so the details are lacking - -
Only J know is these howitzers were converted from 24 cm gun barrels with Rundkeil -
verschluss .
b) Back to the planned Belgian Fort Doel ,had two main batteries :
- 4 x 28 cm in disappearing mounts which became the German Diech battery later in
WW 2 converted in 28 cm schwere Bruno railway guns .
- 28 x 28 cm in casemate mounts , confiscated by the Germans and the gun barrels used
for German CD battery Tirpitz , first in open ( your photo ) later in armourd shield houses

You can see more under fortification part under Fort Doel

About these guns (I suppose 4 guns, not 28 .. ), Were these guns a foreign order confiscated by germans or a german order ?? :?

On the other hand, Can somebody identify the model of this 8.8cm coastal gun ?? According to photocaption, of Eylau battery, Ostend

Hello Sturm78 ,
a) 24 x guns ?? ( typing error - - )
b) Belgian order - 4 x guns produced by Krupp works , the guns were ready for
delivery in 1914 , but confiscated by the Germans . Odd the Belgians have even
paid for the guns !!!!
c) The gun from Eylau battery is an 8,8 cm S.K.L/35 in M.P.L. C/1901

I have some doubts about Tirpitz Batterie guns.
According to my information, belgians ordered 4x Krupp coastal guns; in 1914 germas confiscated these guns and were mounted in 1916 in coastal battery Deich, near Wilhelmshaven.
in 1938 two of these barrels were used for 28cm schwere Bruno K (E) railway guns.

So, I think the guns of Batterie Tirpitz were different ..... :? :?

I found this other image on the net... I am not sure if a gun of Batterie Tirpitz or not....Note the recuperator/recoil mechanism...Model ??? :?

Hello Sturm78 ,
These 28 cm Beute guns are tricky - - here is an short layout :
(a big puzzel game )

1) Belgia ordered 8 x 28 cm L / 45 C/1911 for Fort Doel .
- 4 x casemate mounts
- 4 x disappearing mounts = >Deich bty = > schwere Bruno = > scrapped in Oslo in the 1950 's
2) Holland ordered 8 x 28 cm lang 45 C / 1913 for four twin Gruson type
cupolas for the Fort de Ruyter and Fort Kijkduin , 8 x guns delivered in Amsterdam by
18.July 1919
3) German navy confiscated 8 x Beute guns in 1914
4)Tirpitz battery two versions :
a) former Dutch casemate guns , ( see above )
b) former Belgian casemate guns
5) The Tirpitz guns + mounts : the casemates mounts too low eleavtions , the
Germans made new ones as follows :
2 x 28 cm KstKl/45 called Flügelgseschütze ( = wing guns ) with + 45 elevation
1 x 28 cm KstKl/45 with + 30 eleavtion ( inner guns )
1x 28 cm SKL/45 with + 45 elevation ( normal German naval gun with the
recoil system under the gun barrel ( inner guns ) .

Your photo from 03 Jan 2015 shows one of the 28 cm Beute guns in Tirpitz battery

Hi ludvig,

What a mess...!!! 8O

So, Tirpitz Batterie used two different models of guns.....3x confiscated 28cm KstK l/45 (ex-Belgian or Dutch order) and 1 german 28cm SK L/45...
It is not like this ?
I suppose the confiscated guns would be of Belgian order, as the dutch guns were delivered by Krupp in 1919, not ?? :?
Used the Dutch these guns in any coastal battery in 1920-30s? :?

Here, an image from the net...Tirpitz Batterie ??

Hello Sturm 78 ,
1) J belive that the Tirpitz battery had 4 x 28 cm former Belgian casemate guns with the
c/n 1 ,2,3 and 4 and the the 4 x 28 cm disappearing guns are c/n 5 ,6, 7 and 8 . There is an
interesting that one schwere Bruno gun barreles had c/ n 7
( source Paul Schmalenbach W.I no 2 , 1983 , page 144 )

2) 8 x 28 cm Lang 45 were delivered the naval yard in Amstendam in 1919 , found
a photo of them in Verbeek , page 78 . The recoil system is under the gun barrel ,

3) The gun barreles were laying in naval yard untill 1932 then sold off

4)Here is an link tothe Dutch guns :

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=204430

If the link fails try to type in :Hollandrohr or Ruyter

5)photo from 7 Jan 2016 shows a :

17 cm S.K.L/ 40 in Drehscheibenlafete C / 1901 from Batterie Fridrichort
Former naval turrets from the Braunschweig - class .

Hello Sturm78 ,
Both photos shows the battery Cecilie with its :

15 cm S.K.L/45 in Küstenlafette M.P.L. C/ 1914

There was only one battery with 15 cm S.K.L/45 in Marinekorps Fandern .
You can see the short recoil brake above the gun barrel in the second photo .
