I'm searching for Info on this type of FT-17 with 75mm gun:
http://www.chars-francais.net/new/index ... mitstart=3
Especially plans and pictures of the gun mounting would be interesting. Is it the same as that of the Dedion Bouton?
Was this type used as AA-weapon or mobile artillery? Was it painted like the other "normal" FT's?
Thank you.
Greetings

Re: FT-17 with 75mm gun
Fabi - looking at the middle pic of the three, and the NEXT pic in series on the original site...the breech doesn't depress far enough for it to be an effective AA gun.
Likewise...it looks as if it needs to reverse up to its firing position like a WWII British Archer - and given that it's forward speed was only 2.2mph across country, rising to a maximum of 4.8...it's reverse speed is likely to be SO embarassing as to preclude anything other than manouvering into position as mobile artillery?
Have you come across anything dating those pics? I'm wondering...because the guy in civvies (featured also in the next pic in series on the site) - seems to be in 1930's dress??? Particularly the hat.

Re: FT-17 with 75mm gun
I couldn't find any date nor data of this vehicle. I want to build a model of it thats why I'm interested in the mounting and if it's similar to the Dedion Bouton.
Maybe it's from the interwar period. I think at that time they also built the 75mm howitzer model with turret!?

I think its actually Italian, check out landships website
Re: FT-17 with 75mm gun
According to http://www.landships.freeservers.com/mr ... review.htm, it was a 105 mm howitzer that was mounted by the Italians on a FT-17, not a 75 mm gun. In the background of the 3rd picture, one can see the tube of a 155 GPF. I don't think that this gun was used by Italy. There's a good chance that this self-propelled gun was a French project of 1920's.
At about the same time, the Americans also tried to mount a 75 mm gun on caterpillar carriages.
See http://mailer.fsu.edu/~akirk/tanks/ under "United States" then "self-propelled guns".
