Tidied this one although the lack of sources shows.

I've been pottering around the 3rd Ypres pages, adding a few gleanings and tidying up, still not enough about the German side though.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landing_at_Cape_Helles

I've been tidying existing pages lately and am adding citations to Helles and have spring-cleaned

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Martlet

except for 1 July and the trimmings. the 50th Division seems to disappear after 25 June and most of the sources I've seen seem to be incestuous derivatives of the OH and the 8 Corps history. Any suggestions about XXX Corps at the end of June would be appreciated.

Landing at Cape Helles coming along but I'm a bit short on Ottoman sources.

Attrition,

In the first paragraph of your Martlet page you have the second date wrong - a simple typo. It should be June not July.

I'll read through and see if there is anything else that I could suggest.

How many of these are you doing?

Cheers

Tom

Whoops, egg on face. I only intended to cite the Martlet page using the OH but I was a bit sloppy so went back, did it properly and then got absorbed by the details. I haven't finished as I'm building up a head of steam for the last couple of days using Baverstock, who managed to write a book in the wrong tense. I hadn't looked at the Normandy pages since the team which did a lot on them a few years ago broke up but can see now that they can be improved easily (I copy-edited the prose of Epsom because it was rather poor). I only intended a cameo appearance but now I'm stuck into the page on Greenline and Pomegranate ("2nd Odon") so I might stay around for a while.

I need to stop spreading myself so wide as I haven't finished the Delville Wood rewrite I started a year ago. ;O)

Attrition,

Looking at the 30 Corps WD for June 1944, it refers to the 49th Division attack on 25 Jun 44 as Op "Dauntless" rather than "Martlet". I wonder if there were different code words for the Corps operation orders or the divisions operations orders.

I'll see what the operation order says.

Cheers

Yes, it seems to vary depending on the source, there's a mention in the article lead.

Added a few more gleanings to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_Battle_of_the_Odon but it's an uphill struggle.

As is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landing_at_Cape_Helles even though it isn't finished.
