Only recently noticed that it was C-class so found a missing reference, did a little bit of tidying-up and it's a B Bob.

Did a scissors 'n' paste from other articles and added a few references, to put meat on the bones.

Does anyone know if the German organised counter-attack south of Polygon Wood on 25 September 1917 had a code name or other label?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Bat ... schendaele

First Battle of Passchendaele has been promoted to GA, although I don't think it deserves it and is being polished for an A class although I think it deserves that less. There aren't enough sources for the German side (in English) to do it justice. That said the review process had resulted in amendments which are an improvement.

The Other Side of the Wire Volume 2: The Battle of the Somme. With the German XIV Reserve Corps, 1 July 1916
Ralph J. Whitehead arrived the other day so I hope to better balance the Somme articles for 1 July. There's a lot more about the 12th Division opposite the French north of the river, particularly the inferior defensive positions which were more vulnerable to artillery (usually credited to the French having more heavy artillery and using it better than the British).

The 66th Division page is being assessed for GA class but is being criticised for the sources used.

Das gefecht bei Serre (cod translation: The Action at Serre) 6-13 June 1915.

I've been reading about the French capture of Toutvent Farm in Whitehead, pp 254-273. I and think there might be enough material for a Wiki article but wonder if anyone could point me to other sources please? He is sketchy about the French and gives losses for the 26th Reserve Division (900 casualties) and an estimate of 11,000 French losses but nothing for the 52nd Division. Humphries and Maker give c. 4,000 German casualties and there's a mention in OH 1915 but that's my lot.

Thanks, I didn't start it but the sources in English require a certain amount of detective work to untangle 15 and 23 August. One of the AHF regulars provided the Horne & Kramer source.

Did a couple of small ones as my Wikimojo dodges between bombshells and sprained ankles.

I've been tinkering with Desert War articles in Wikipaedia and wonder if anyone has ever pointed out that the mediocre performance of the British at occasions like Brevity and Battleaxe, has equivalents in the Afrika Korps/Panzerarmee attacks at Tobruk 41, 1st Alamein and Alam Halfa? These days it looks much more evenly matched than it did when I were a lad.
