Members of this forum are probably familiar with the Russian-German project to digitize WWI German documents in the archives of the Russian Federation. The webpage is here: http://www.germandocsinrussia.org/en/no ... foderation

As part of my research, I downloaded all the German General Staff maps from the webpage that show the location of French, British and Belgian forces on the Western Front from Feb 1916 to Nov 1918. The maps are a great resource, but frankly, downloading 112 maps one by one and organizing them by date was maddening. But I did it, and will gladly send the entire collection via the ftp site http://www.wetransfer.com to anyone who wants the collection. Each map is approximately 2 to 3 MB and the entire collection is 304 MB.

I have attached a low-resolution copy of one of the maps.

Regards,
Marc

Awesome -- thanks! It's interesting in that they seem to show more about what the Germans intelligence told them was in front of them as opposed to any particular details of the German side.

They are intelligence maps focused on the order of battle of Allied units.

In World War 1, the KuK and the 2nd Reich were known as the "Allied Powers", while their opponents were known as "Entente."
Nobody expects the Fallschirm! Our chief weapon is surprise; surprise and fear; fear and surprise. Our 2 weapons are fear and surprise; and ruthless efficiency. Our *3* weapons are fear, surprise, and ruthless efficiency; and almost fanatical devotion
