Hello!
This event was obviously Battle of Jutland, while the men were:
Theodor Riedel, commander of the 6. torpedo half-flotilla in World War I , who died during the battle of Jutland
Friedrich Ihn, torpedo boat commander who died during the Battle of Jutland
Friedrich Eckoldt, toprpedo boat commander who dies during the Battle of Jutland
Anton Schmitt, crew member of the small cruiser Frauenlob during the battle of Jutland who fired his gun until the ship was sunk

P.S. Don't know about two ships, however. :|

hi, Aleks,

3 out of 4

Yes, ... Riedel and Eckoldt died together in torpedo boat "V 48", but who was aboard with Friedrich Ihn in "S 35" ?
hint: it´s the number "in between" ...

No, that was approx. 4 hours later

Thanks for the hint.
So, the fourth man was Erich Steinbrinck, commander of V-29, who was rescued with part of his ship's crew by S-35 and lost his life together with all men of the latter. A sad story...

Hello!
You are quite close, but this is not Prut.
The ship under question was smaller and was sunk at different naval theater.

Best regards, Aleks

hi, Aleks,

well .. a German warship sank a Russian one - of the same type - in a location where nobody would have expected an engagement between ships of both nations to take place ... what am I thinking of ?
