Looking forward to gathering as much History as possible.
Hello U-Boot Fans,

I am trying to gather as much information about my Great Uncle Kapt. Juergen Von Rosenstiel of U-502.
I was wondering if he ever did receive a Ritterkreuz even if it was Posthumously.

Chris von Rosenstiel, I regret to say that I do not find your great uncle's name in Elite of the Third Reich, The Recipients of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross 1939-45: A Reference, by Walther-Peer Fellgiebel (Helion & Co. Ltd., 2003). I have used Fellgiebel quite a bit, and believe him to be accurate and authoritative. There may be a source more particular to the Kriegsmarine, but if so I do not have it. Or, there may be another and more accurate general source that I do not have. Don't give up looking. I know that Viet Scherzer is working on (or may have finished) what might be described as the mother of all Ritterkreuztraeger books---you might see whether you can get your hands on the relevant volume.

Best wishes.

What are the house rules on "necro-ing"a thread (that is, posting in it months--or years--after the original post was left unanswered)? I've seen forums have rules on starting new topics, and also rules on how far it's polite to necro a thread; AHF seems to have the former, so the latter bears a question. Thanks in advance for any clarifications.

It is of course fine to revive an old thread if you have new information on the topic or want to continue the discussions with relevant follow-up questions.

I just read your comments on the Schaub wedding thread about not showing gravestones. I fully understand this, especially given the recent political shenanigans over the Hess grave. I don't suppose I could show a gravesite without saying where it is?

As part of the celebrations of our 10 year anniversary we will open the For Sale section for all members without any cost until the end of the year! The section can now be used for free for any members who want to sell WW1, Inter-War or WW2 related items such as books or militaria.
We hope the members will appreciate this chance to sell items for free within the community.

This offer is open for all active members but not for companies that want to promote their business, they can use Google Adsense to advertise here.

A post from kingsway, on the subject of the "62nd Anti tank Regiment" thread at viewtopic.php?f=114&t=101474 in the United Kingdom & its Empire and Commonwealth 1919-45 section of the forum, was moved there - DT.

You don't need to ask before starting threads.

I've been on various forums, and they all have basically the same rules.
With replying to the topic and not attacking the person, doing that shows immaturity. We shouldn't do that anyway. We must also be in control of our emotions, not vice versa.
