I think I should clarify that. The design of the "Carro de Combate Ligero para Infantería Modelo 1936" (or "Trubia L.A. nº1") did have this feature: at the front and sides there were two armor sheet, the external one of 13mm and the internal one of 3mm, with a 25mm space between them. BUT the built Trubia-Naval tanks, that were based on that design with only minor variations, did not have spaced armor, using instead a single sheet of armor.Well, kind of. The Trubia-Naval had an internal armor sheet of 3 mm, an external sheet of 13 mm, and between them there was some other material that AFAIK has not been identified. Probably the intention was to increase protection without adding too much weight, but it must be remembered that making armor steel was difficult for the Spanish industry so perhaps it was simply that there was nothing else available.

Re: Trubia light tanks
In case anyone is interested, here are the 3-view schematics of the "Carro de Combate Ligero para Infantería Modelo 1936" project:

These are the same 3-view schematics included in the Los Carros de combate “Trubia” (1925 -1939) book by Artemio Mortera Pérez. I could not post them before because scanning the book would have damaged it. Now I have found them on-line, so here you are.
Regards.
