According to http://hemeroteca.abc.es/nav/Navigate.e ... 3/025.html, a Spanish newspaper from 23 March 1933, there was a Bruno Quintana which was "comandante de Estado Mayor", which agrees with his uniform in the photo. So I think the identification in the photo is correct.
According to http://hemeroteca.abc.es/nav/Navigate.e ... 2/016.html, in May 1927 he had the rank of captain and was selected was selected for the promotion course.
I can't find anything more about him. I hope that helps.
Regards.

Oops, I forgot to look at the BOE database. Here you have more information:

His name was Bruno Quintana Caicedo. In 1932 he was in Italy, at the Scuola Superiore di Guerra (he was commissioned to go there in October 1928 and his commission was to end on 15 October 1932).
http://www.boe.es/datos/pdfs/BOE/1931/1 ... -01354.pdf

By Order of 27 June 1933 he was appointed as Military Attache to Poland, Romania and Yugoslavia, with residence in Warsaw.

In 1934 he is paid for attending the military maneuvers carried out by the Polish Army in the Katowic (Kalowic?) region.

I can't find anything about him in the SCW period.
There are some reference to a captain of the Guardia Civil named Emilio Quintana Caicedo (this one, for example, is from 1938: http://www.boe.es/datos/pdfs/BOE/1938/1 ... -03142.pdf) that may have been his brother, as the combination "Quintana Caicedo" is not very common (though this kinship is far from sure). For what it's worth, this "Emilio Quintana Caicedo" fought for the National side, though this really means nothing as there were many relatives that fought in different sides during the SCW.
Regards.

He is wearing the collar badges of the Staff Corps. The dedicace is in Italian! Finally, Colonel Mario Marazzani could be Italian ....

As I said previously, he is a "comandante de Estado Mayor" (a major in the Staff Corps) and he carries the corresponding badges.
The dedicace is in Italian!
He should have had a good knowledge of Italian after his years studying at the Scuola di Guerra... :)

I have found new information about this man, though unfortunately nothing about the SCW period:

In 1907 he was studying in the Cavalry Academy:
http://hemeroteca.abc.es/nav/Navigate.e ... 4/005.html

Oddly, in 1912 he is a second lieutenant in the Infantry branch (Infantry Regiment Cuenca nº 27) and is promoted to first lieutenant in the same unit.
(Source: Diario Oficial del Ministerio de la Guerra, 16 July 1912)

On 1 April 1929 he married María Josefa Gálvez Cañero Garín in Madrid.
(Source: Estudio histórico sobre una familia extremeña: Los Sánchez Arjona by Jaime de Salazar y Acha; this book identifies Bruno Quintana as lieutenant colonel of the in the Staff Corps, but this is clearly a mistake as he was certainly a major).

It seems that in 1935, while still a captain, he was made "Officier de la Légion d'Honneur" in France:

He was killed in Paracuellos del Jarama en Madrid in 1936. He was my grandfather. Do You have more historic dates about him?

Thanks
