Japanese tank

Can you imagine combing thru the jungle and running up on that 8O ? Probably not having AT ammo... I'd crap myself.

Just melt back into the jungle, where you could escape the tank (and change your underwear).

Despite what the common newsreels of the day depicted, tanks didn't plow through the jungle knocking down trees as they went. They tended to stay on established trails or open fields, which on Guadacanal were few and far in between.

Most infantry possessed some anti-tank weaponry, as long as the tank's infantry support could be dealt with tank is nothing but nearly immobile target in constricted terrain. Satchel charges, AT-mines... Or the really up close methods used to stop tanks that were utilized during WWII like tree trunks or crowbars...

The second photo appears to show Balcombe Point at Mount Martha,SE of Melbourne.
Camp Balcombe was in the vicinity.
