Years ago, I interviewed two survivors of Corregidor and the subsequent captivity. This is their story.

Hello to all :D; a complement...........................

Corregidor 1942.

Reading the history of the fall of the Philippines and these two testimonials, I wonder how and why Douglas MacArthur came clean from the mess?

He was an icon. He also took it on himself to determine US policy regarding PI when he got to Australia.

He was ordered out by FDR

Douglas MacArthur I shall return speech
The President of the United States ordered me to break through the Japanese lines and proceed from Corregidor to Australia for the purpose, as I understand it, of organizing the American offensive against Japan, a primary objective of which is the relief of the Philippines. I came through and I shall return.
First FDR heard of that.

There was too much Army info in his head to allow him to be captured. I have long suspected he wouldn't have been allowed to surrender.

So, you think that quote dictated US policy regarding the PI?!! That is laughable!! Try again if you please. You made a statement and you should be able to back it up with “facts”.
