John Ferguson became regionally famous as a Louisiana sports broadcaster, but during the war he flew cargo missions from India to China, where weather was the deadliest enemy.

I just saw this, thanks for posting.

My grandfather was with the 40th BG in Chakulia, India, and worked on B-29's that flew over the Hump before the unit was transferred to Tinian.

The aircraft types distribution of the India-China Division of the ATC (Air Transport Command) on July 31st 1945:

C-46 = 330

C-47 = 167

C-54 = 132

B-25 = 33

L-5 = 10

B-24 = 1
