The photo of "4" over "18R" above is of one of the small number of B-18As operated by the 18th Reconnaissance Squadron at Langley Field, Virginia 1940 and early 1941. Thus the "18R".

The B-18 was rather pleasant to fly, like a DC-3. My great uncle flew them.
