Navy battle ring a bell?

#1

Post by HMan » 09 Oct 2014, 03:14

I vaguely remember reading of a naval battle in which there was no casualties, except that an enemy
shell hit a potato storage locker, converted them to hot suds, which were sucked up by a ventilation
shaft & spewed over the cook.

I believe I read it decades ago in Morison's official USN history, describing a surface US - Japan battle.
Would anyone know what battle this was?
