I was born in 1886 at Franklin, Ohio and later graduated from West Point.
My first assignment in the army was in the Philippine Islands then I was ordered on patrol along the Mexican border.
After duty in World War I, I returned to West Point as an instructor. Then I was sent on a tour of duty in China.
In 1938 I was ordered to Hawaii. At the beginning of World War II, I was placed in command of an Infantry Division. I was removed from that command in the field, and was assigned to a military post in Panama. I finished my career as an aide to the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington.

Who am I ?

Correct Edward.
(I thought I would post a question that wasn't quite as Ozcentric).

After a brilliant campaign where I applied what I had learnt from my nation's allies I ran afoul of my nation's leader who posted me to a backwater. Who am I?

Sounds like to Auchinleck, who was dispatched to India in 1942.

I'll open the quiz with a question to keep it going.
When were the plans for an invasion of the Philippines finalized? And by whom?
