Hi guys, On 60 Minutes (Australia) they had an interview with Dieprand von Richthofen (Great Grand Newphew of MvR?) and he states that his father was killed by ground fire in ww2 and was a von Richthofen.
Anyone know of any von Richthofen killed in WW2?
I know Wolfram died of a brain tumor at the and of WW2 and was a prisoner of the US when he died, however thats the only von Richthofen I know of in WW2.

I don't have any biographical knowledge on the family but there are 9 Frhr von Richthofen's listed in the Volksbund as being killed in WW-2 with another one being listed as dying in 1951 in Russia.

Hi,

In Hermann Buchner's book Stormbird, he includes a photo and the story of Gefreiter Wolfgang von Richthofen, son of Generaloberst von Richthofen. Wolfgang was Buchner's wingman in II./Schlachtgeschwader 2, and was shot down and killed on a ground-attack mission in Romania in the summer of 1944.

Cheers,
Andrew A.
