Note: The labor shortage of WWII eliminated the Great Depression. During the labor glut of 2014, those custodial workers mentioned above would more likely be drawing food stamps while more qualified workers—whose wealth-creating jobs would have been redistributed away from America—competed for the janitorial positions. Wealth-creating jobs transferred away from America do not provide revenue to Uncle Sugar. There is less revenue available to pay for food stamps while more citizens need food stamps. More citizens on food stamps have more time available to engage in creative criminal activity. This requires more court workers and prison guards who are not actually engaged in wealth creation, thus further burdening Uncle Sugar's decreasing tax revenues. The America of today could not afford to supply & fight WWII, the Korean War, & the Vietnam War. Nor could it afford the Marshall Plan, the Cold War, the occupation of Japan, or sending a man to the moon.

To supply and fight a new WWII it's sufficient to double the current US military budget, and that would require only 10% of the US GDP, not 40% as in 1944.
Today the US military expenditure is highest since 1945, but its share of GDP is lowest since times immemorial. The US of today could easily afford everything from your list.

You're correct WM. ... I could easily do it myself if they let me, by creating a labor shortage. ... During WWII, America produced twice as much as in 2014 with half the people. The problem started in the 1990s when the redistribution of wealth creation away from America began. This resulted in less wealth and more food stamps. ... All wealth is ultimately created by extreme hard labor. Printing more food stamps results in more people working hard to avoid work, and thus, i.a.w. with the laws of math, less wealth with which to provide the military with massive firepower. Nukes are nice, but they're inhumane due to collateral damage. Drones are nice too, but they're like shooting a hornets' nest with a BB gun.
