Thanks in advance.

Re: german hospitals bombed by the allies
Apparently there was such? But Germany already in 1939. Poland committed this type of crime and it's on a massive scale.
Re: german hospitals bombed by the allies
On April 17th, 1943 the mental hospital at Wiesengrund was bombed by 249 British heavy bombers. Including the military hospital nearby, about 100 patients were killed.

All 249 of themwm wrote:On April 17th, 1943 the mental hospital at Wiesengrund was bombed by 249 British heavy bombers. Including the military hospital nearby, about 100 patients were killed.
Or was it merely hit by a number of bombs in the course of a bombing raid on targets in the local area.
Re: german hospitals bombed by the allies
Actually it can be said that because the hospital was marked as the target by pathfinders. Of course as it usually happened at that time most of the bombs missed.
It wasn't a small target too, below a bird view of the hospital shortly after it had been built in the nineteenth century: source

Re: german hospitals bombed by the allies
It's still nothing intentional bombing of the objects that bear the Red Cross in 1939:
http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bombardowa ... awy_(1939)
"After yesterday's bombing of hospitals, on the roof of our hospital hung a flag with a red cross. The same did and other hospitals. Now Germany will already know where to find hospitals and will not bombard them. "It soon turned out that they were vain hopes. On 14 September Regulska noted: "In hospitals take off in a hurry hung flags of the Red Cross. It turns out that Germany not only did not save hospitals, but on the contrary - especially shooting at them. The wounded upset and worried inquire whether already removed the flag from the roof [7]
Regulska describes, inter alia, that German pilots deliberately bombed hospitals, cemeteries, and stooped low enough to bombard people with machine guns. [8] Regulska noted the recommendation not to give addresses through radio hospitals and remove from them the designation of the Red Cross, because they are then immediately bombed [8]"

Re: german hospitals bombed by the allies
While air raids on Poland is off topic, I have to ask: Does Regulska offer any proof of this idea? The fact that hospitals and cemeteries were hit is not in itself proof that these were actually targeted. In fact, it makes absolutely no sense to target a cemetery, and little if any to target a hospital.
Re: german hospitals bombed by the allies
This idea was accompanied throughout the 1939 campaign. Know Wielunia bombing, Franpolai other Polish cities? Clean barbarism. Aiming at hospitals is nothing when firing refugees and so on., Or the city in which there was no army. It was a new war, conducted in absolute terms. Germany started it as a maximum absolute and barbaric.

The bombing of towns can certainly be labelled barbaric, but I'm still waiting for evidence hospitals and cemeteries (!) were actually targeted by the Luftwaffe.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_ai ... _of_Europe, on April 16/17 a force of 327 Lancasters and Halifaxes set out to destroy the Skoda arms factory at Plzen, Czechoslovakia. The force mistook the mental hospital near Dobrany to be the factory at Plzen. A Shaky Do: The Skoda Works Raid 16/17th April 1943, by Peter W. Cunliffe, is given as the source.wm wrote:On April 17th, 1943 the mental hospital at Wiesengrund was bombed by 249 British heavy bombers. Presumably the point of the original question was to identify occasions where the Allies deliberately targeted a hospital. No doubt a number of German hospitals were hit in cities which suffered area bombing attacks, but I'd bet that there was no case where a specific German hospital was deliberately attacked.
