Who was the most EVIL man of WWII (Hitler or Stalin?)

Postby kmk24 on 11 Aug 2003 19:01

One of the reasons for me, why I'm so interested about WWII is, that it was time of two really mean and evil leader... Saddam is nothing compered to these to dictators.

both didn't care about civilian (even own) or their soldiers lifes.

I would say it's Stalin. He feels so much smarter, and he didn't have same kind of fools around him like Hitler had. Don't get wrong Hitler was evil man

I agree Stalin was smarter, but he DID have lots of fools and yes-men, and good-for-nuthin' drinking buddies around him. Take Voroshilov and Budenny, for instance--they were good, maybe even great Civil War generals, but they were still fighting the Civil War during WWII, with known results. Yet Stalin had kept them around since the Civil War, and even kept them around after their humiliating defeats, not executing them as he did other failures (Pavlov).

Thanks for that info Feanor.

(It's no surprise there was yes-men around Stalin.... :D I surely would have been yes-man around him. )

Allied leaders were manipulated by Stalin.

has any one read the book "Stalin" by Radzinsky?? Edvard?? i'm not sure about that name. It was interesting to read.

. Yet Stalin had kept them around since the Civil War, and even kept them around after their humiliating defeats, not executing them as he did other failures (Pavlov).

Can this be because they were not a problem to Stalin.

Stalin, just. Because of what he deliberately and negligently did to his own people before the war started.

Joseph Stalin, simply for the fact that his active and direct participation in the execution/killing/purging of his own population is far greater than what can be attributed to Hitler, in my view.

The way I compare the two is this:

Stalin is like a ruthless and paranoid mafia boss who kills people who get in his way or demonstrate a lack of slavish loyalty or oppose him and his regime in any way.

Hitler is like a paranoid psychopath who kills Jews mostly because he doesn't like them, not because they are a real threat to his regime.

Hard to say which is the most evil.

They were both ruthless, which I think is a better word for them than evil.

I think a better topic question would be, Who killed more people ?

If you take the country of Ukraine, The great puzzle is: Did Hitler or Stalin during World War II kill the most Ukrainians? Hitler's crimes in Ukraine have been better documented and are better known. Stalin once said that history is written by the winners. As a victor, Stalin's Soviet Union was able to hide its genocide of Ukrainians.

Who killed the more people? It's easy it's the megalomaniac Stalin.

I've deleted Rosoner's post as being both off-topic and anti-Semitic. I've also deleted Chuikov's reply to it.

Carry on Gentlemen! :D

Actually, I do believe that it was Hitler who said that. Stalin said something similar, but it was along the lines of "The victors aren't judged"

well gues we know how he felt about this question...
