Josef Jennewein = Known in the Luftwaffe as "Pepi"

I dont know nothing concern german language.
In Italia Josef is Giuseppe and the diminutif fine name is Giuseppino that usually is cut in Peppino that is cut again in Pino. In any case Pepi is a sort of short name of Josef.

Josef Priller = Known in the Luftwaffe as "Pips"

Probable the same.

Josef Zwernemann = Known in the Luftwaffe as "Jupp"

Different, but probable born again from the name Josef. (maybe the cut of a sort of big Josef)

Karl Willius = Known in the Luftwaffe as "Charlie"

Appear the english name of Karl

Joachim Brendel = Known in the Luftwaffe as "Achim"

Maybe the cut of the name Joachim

Paul Körner = "Pilli"

Maybe from the diminutif Paulin

Leo-lothar Barann = Known in the Luftwaffe as "Methusalem"

Matusalemme was the Biblic more old man of the planet. Maybe Barann was a very old man?

Leopold Munster = Known in the Luftwaffe as "Poldi"

The same, maybe cut the diminutif name of Leopoldin

Desolate for the poor help.

Bazi is german slang for people from bavaria

Methusalem means oldest man in group

Wutz is german slang for pig

Schorsch is german slang for Georg

Vati is german slang for Vater (dad, father)

Quax was a pilot in a german film (Quax der Bruchpilot) with Heinz Ruehmann
where he always broke his planes until he learned properly to fly, maybe
comes this nick from this film

Jupp, Seppl, Seppi, Sepi is german slang (depending on the area) for Joseph

Furst is Fuerst , sovereign, prince, ruler, simply spoken a nobleman

Franzl is german slang for Franz

the other nicknames may come from actions, backgrounds or personal
behaviour of the person

Richard Kunze = "Knüppel-Kunze"

"Knüppel" is most likely short for "Steuerknüppel" = "control column", "Knüppel" is "club", "stick".

Franzl is german slang for Franz

It's a diminutive, isn't it? "Little Franz" or "Young Franz"? Same as "Fritzl"?

Wrong Phylo, a diminutive would be "Franzi" or "Fritzi".
