Kirchweihe (location ?)

Postby Ken S. on 21 Feb 2013 17:30

An entry in a regimental history giving the route that the regiment when transported to the western front in 1914 includes "Langenfelde--Kirchweihe--Osnabrück". Given that this took place August 23/24, I'm assuming that the regiment participated in a religious ceremony in Langenfelde (Hamburg). Or perhaps there is a similar-sounding location somewhere between Hamburg and Osnabrück? I have tried spelling variations but with no luck so far. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
