Help on Translation "Lützows wilde Jagd"
Hi all, I have a Hessian suggesting to me this song which I find so light-hearted, yet so powerful. Yet, I cannot find any English Lyric on this song "Lützows wilde Jagd", I guess we have to work on this, can anyone translate this song?
Was glänzt dort vom Walde im Sonnenschein
Was schlagen die Schwerter zusammen
By the way, here is a video I found on youtube :

Strange, no one reply? Is it old German language that no one know?

Re: Help on Translation "Lützows wilde Jagd"
What´s glaring over there in the forest,
I hear it roaring closer and closer
It ´s moving downward in drab rows
And shrill horns sound among it
Filling the soul with horror
And if you ask those black fellows
That is Lützow's furious, ventourous hunt
That is Lützow's furious, ventourous hunt ...
I hear it roaring closer and closer
It ´s moving downward in drab rows
And shrill horns sound among it
Filling the soul with horror
And if you ask those black fellows
That is Lützow's furious, ventourous hunt
That is Lützow's furious, ventourous hunt ...

Re: Help on Translation "Lützows wilde Jagd"
surely .. there we go:
Whats´s moving there quickly through the gloomy forest
And wanders from mountain to mountain
Setting up an ambush at night
Cheering Hoorays and the rifle bangs
The Franconian henchmen fall
And if you ask the black hunters
That is Lützow's furious, ventourous hunt

Re: Help on Translation "Lützows wilde Jagd"
what´s roaring there in the valley the loud battle
what do the swords clash against each other
wold-hearted riders fighting the batlle
the spark of freedom is red-hot awake
blazing in bloody flames
And if you ask the black riders
That is Lützow's furious, ventourous hunt

The wild hunt and the german hunt
for henchmen´s offsprings and tyrants
so, you who love us, don´t worry and wail
the country is free and the morning comes
even if only by dieing we won it
from grandson to grandson shall it be passed
That was Lützow's furious, ventourous hunt

Re: Help on Translation "Lützows wilde Jagd"
Thank you Georg Elser. I am sure without your help this will not be successful.
By the way, I have miss out these two phrases, can you translate them to make it complete?
Was scheidet dort röchelnd vom Sonnenlicht
unter winselnde Feinde Gebettet?
Es zucket der Tod auf dem Angesicht
doch die wackern Herzen erzittern nicht
das Vaterland ist ja gerettet!
Und wenn ihr die schwarzen Gefallnen fragt:
Das war Lützows wilde, verwegene Jagd.

Re: Help on Translation "Lützows wilde Jagd"
Glad to help when i find the time ... there we go:
Where the wines glow over there the river Rhein is roaring
the aggressor/tatar (Napoleon) thought to be safe
There it approaches quickly with shining lightnings
and jumps in with its strong arms
and jumps out on the enemy shore
and if you ask the black swimmers
That is Lützow's furious, ventourous hunt
What´s perishing there, breathing stetorously from the sunlight
bedded among whining enemies?
Death flashes on the face,
but the brave hearts don´t tremble
for the fatherland is saved
and if you ask the black KIAs
That was Lützow's furious, ventourous hunt

I am working on another song "Prinz Eugen der edle Ritter", it is in another post, glad if you all can help!
Oh! I think I have make a mistake on the song lyric "der Wütrich geborgen sich meinte", it should be "the aggressor/tatar (Napoleon) thought to be safe. I thought it is referring to the Prussian king family. I will correct the video I have made later. Thanks for your help!!!! The below is link is just for the record!Georg Elser wrote:Glad to help when i find the time ... there we go:

Re: Help on Translation "Lützows wilde Jagd"
"Es fallen die fränkischen Schergen" - please don´t translate "fränkisch" to"franconian". Franconians are people from german region Franconia (Nuremberg, Fürth, Bamberg, Würzburg etc.)
In this song "fränkisch" means "french". In older German "fränkisch", which usually means "frankish" (Merowingian and carolingian times) or "franconian", was also used for "french".
So the vers is: "french henchmen fall"
