what does п/п mean in the following (п-к = полковник is colonel)?
п/п Чабаев Яков Фёдорович (с 05.41); п-к Гурьев Степан Савельевич (прибыл в часть уже после 22.06.); п/п Чабаев Яков Фёдорович (с 00.10.41)
was it so simple that п/п = подполковник (lieutenant colonel)?
What does п/п mean?

Re: What does п/п mean?
Hello!
Generally, п/п in Russian means (номер) по порядку, i.e. item number or serial number.
But here I tend to agree with you, although I would abbreviate подполковник to п/п-к.
Best regards, Aleks

Re: What does п/п mean?
I have been looking at some of the original directives online (Southern Front, June 1941) and these contain a large number of abbreviations. As an easy start many document have the abbreviations пр-к and пр-ка,* I assumed they meant приказ (order, command). Is this correct?
Next there is ф 228 оп 701 ех 56 л 71-74 at the Ministry of Defense Online Database (номер записи в базе данных 60384416), which is a document that gives the structure of Southern Front on 25 June 1941 and 15 August 1941. On the 15 August list (the second page) there are two columns the first is the unit designation (Наименование частей) and the second column list just 'К' with each unit having a rating between К-5 and К-100. Does anyone know what this 'К' means?
*(edit) пр-к = приказ (order, command), пр-ка = противника (enemy)
