I have more pictures of this soldier showing lots of great equipment and scenery. I don't know anything about him other than his last name may be Kohl,I just received an old family album from Müchen that covers some of my distant relatives from 1915-1955 and I was surprised to find a section for him! Any information may help with my research, I was wondering if anyone might be able to tell the location some of these may have been taken.
Thanks!

Hi,
not sent by Gerhard as the text notes in the first lines "KIA on March 26th 1943" near... am Kuban - Brückenkopf". But you´re right Craig that the photos shows Gerhard as the last lines read "Andenken an Gerhard = In Memory of Gerhard.

Thanks again history1. I have read about the high casualty rates on both sides during the kuban bridgehead battle! RIP Gerhard

Here is a pic of him perhaps before the war in his younger days. Does anyone have any idea about what kind of machinery he's using?

Place of death was most likely Krimskoje or Krimskaja, today called Krymsk in Krasnodar Krai, Russia.
It was part of Wiener-Stellung defense line on Kuban bridgehead.
