Frank,

It is a nice letter from soldier named Heinrich to his sister Elsbeth, written while in the Ukraine. The first page describes in general terms that he is doing fine. He says he sometimes imagines it is like being at a resort. He also mentions how he has learned how to bathe from a bowl that contains only a litre and 1/2 of water- he joking suggests he might even learn to swim in it.

The second page is a poem he wrote in honor of his sister. From the poem, in which he bemoans that lack of hills or mountains, it seems that he came from a mountainous region. His sister's name, Elsbeth, sound Bavarian to me. Pure speculation, nothing concrete.

Hi Andy,

did I overread something? Where cames your information from that Elsbeth is his sister? Thanks for your help!
