Hello!
The reason I'm trying to understand more about these pictures is because they both came from a photo album that was damaged and not much was left..

This picture seems to have been partially burned and cut away. I know the message is incomplete but any hints help, I can only read "kurland"

What I think I read:

1. picture

Hier waren wir
als der Friedens-
vertrag mit Frank-
reich unterzeichnet
wurde.
Im Sommer 1940

2. picture

..andt’s Unterstand in der
…ten Stellung. Nach dem
Trommelfeuer (?) am 5. Jan. 17.
Kurland
Stellung an der Aa
Jan. 17

It´s sure "in der alten Stellung."
Trommelfeuer = heavy barrage: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barrage_%28artillery%29
