German>English Geschärfter Arrest

I'm working on translating HDv 240, Schießforschrift.

It refers to a punishment for creating incorrect records as "Geschärfter arrest". What is that?

While trying to find my answer, I also found the term "Strenger Arrest", so I'd like to know what that is, also.

Thanks in advance,

John

It all depends what the regulation says at the time. You need "Die Wehrmachtdisziplinarstrafordnung" for that, and there were many of these...

Basically geschärfter Arrest is between "mild" one and a "strict" one.
Usually in a separate cell, with a hard bed, bread and water only on some days.

Strenger Arrest is the "strict" one. With no leaving the cell at all, no lights, plus those extra bits from geschärfter Arrest above.
