Help with maker's name?

Postby Valleygal on 09 Jun 2004 15:50

Im not sure if I posted this in the right section, but does anyone recognize this maker's name? I cant make it out. This isnt my gravyboat, but I have a bowl with the exact maker's stamp on it and I would like to be able to research it more. Thanks in advance.

This probably should have been posted in the "Various Militaria and Collecting in General" section, but......

I also have a Luftwaffe bowl with the same manufacturer's mark, but dated 1941. The main part of the name is Schönwald. The stamp on mine is light at the beginning of the name, so I can't make out whether the first letter (before Schönwald) is an "M" or a "W", but it appears to have another letter following it too.

Is your bowl one of the square serving ones?

It is neither a M nor a W, but a big gothic A: ALTSCHÖNWALD

"Old Schönwald" - The "Alt" in this meaning was often used to imply traditional designs.

Hi maxxx,

Thanks for the help! I couldn't make it out in the photo or on my own piece, but now that you mention it, I see it.

FV - My bowl is round and shallow. Maybe a soup bowl?
maxxx - Thank you!

Hey guys -

I realize this thread is almost eight years old, but I suppose that's part of the beauty of search engines and forums.

I managed to acquire a few pieces of TR Luftwaffe porcelain and it's all made by Schönwald, so I figured I might as well stick with the same maker. However, it has been difficult to find LW porcelain in general, let alone from a specific maker (over the yrs I've been seeing a lot of Baucher Weiden along with some Kolmar and Rosenthal). Does anyone know where I might find some Schönwald plates/cups/bowls/saucers/whatever? Anyone have any they might wish to sell?
