Robert Schneider
Born: 30.06.1911
Member NSDAP: 2 665 860
Member SS: 92 510
Promoted to SS-Sturmbannführer der Waffen-SS: 09.11.1943

I'm looking for the correct SS-number from Robert Schneider.
The number 92 510 already belonged to Fritz Mauer so I hope someone can tell me which number Robert Schneider had.

Greetings, Mike

Hello Claus,
Thank you very much for the correct SS-number from this Robert Schneider.

Hello Moniroth,
Thanks for posting the extra info on Robert Schneider but some things just don't match with the Robert Schneider I was writing about.

However, I also do have an SS-Sturmbannführer Robert Schneider(no further info on him)who was head of Abteilung Ic within the Amtsgruppe Führung from the SS-FHA in 1944.

I'm looking for the correct SS-number from Fedor Dittrich.
The number 92 712 already belonged to Franz Stippe so I hope someone can tell me which number Fedor Dittrich had.

I've a Roland Schneider, SS-Hauptsturmführer, who was serving within the Staff from the Freikorps 'Danmark'.
Maybe identical to Robert ??

Hi Moniroth You-Bell,

I have the information from a book of Brün Meyer "Dienstalterliste der Waffen-SS: SS-Obergruppenführer bis SS-Hauptsturmführer. Stand vom 1. Juli 1944" Biblio Verlag Osnabrück 1987 (ISBN 3-7648-1469-1). A copy of the original DAL from SS-Obergruppenführer von Herff's copy (head of the SS personal office).
There is no Fedor Dittrich registrered is this book.

Cheers

My opinion is that, while you are correct here (Robert Schneider's SS Nr. was 92 521), you should not rely too heavily on this particular book. I, too, have this book & it has been somewhat useful, but I have found hundreds (I repeat HUNDREDS) of errors when compared to the actual microfilmed records regarding SS number & DOB. Whoever transposed the records from the original document to the information in this published version must have had a bad or "fuzzy" copy of it.

Hi Fred,

you are - partly at least - correct. The basis for the above mentioned book is a fuzzy copy of SS-Obergruppenführer von Herff's personal original. I am not aware of any other (better?) copies of this DAL. There is some examples of von Herff's DAL - it is very hard to read, and the Publisher must have guessed som of the entries especially the handwritten ones. However I have not come across hundreds of errors although I admit that there are some errors.

A complete and un-fuzzy version is available from NARA Publication T611 (it begins on roll 1 & continues on roll 2). I've seen the von Herff version (with the notes)…the version at NARA is exactely the same DAL, but has no handwritten notes in the margin, just the original document. Also, I wasn't exaggerating when I said hundreds of errors. When I compared the Biblio Verlag published version to the microfilm records, by the time I got to page 100, I had already found 234 errors (the entire DAL itself ends at page 191 in the published version, not including the index, appendix, etc., so I've only checked about half). It's still a handy book, but check the information.

We now have a Robert Schneider with DoB 30-06-1911 and a Robert Schneider with DoB 02-10-1910.
Both had the SS-number 92.521 if I'm correctly reading all the posts here and both were promoted to SS-Sturmbannführer on 09-11-1943.

Can someone clear this ??

And what about the SS-Stubaf Robert Schneider who was head of Abteilung Ic within the Amtsgruppe Führung from the SS-FHA in 1944 ??
Is he identical to the Robert Schneider mentioned by Moniroth ??

I don't know if this helps, but the only DOB of 2.10.10 by someone named Schneider (mentioned by Moniroth You-Bell above) belongs to SS-Ostubaf. Rudolf Schneider (SS Nr. 33 064 - he was Kdr. I./Pz.Gr.Rgt.5 when he was KIA 06.07.1943). The info for Robert Schneider (SS Nr. 92 521, DOB 30.06.11) from John P. Moore's "Führerliste" is the same as what Moniroth You-Bell posted except the DOB. Rudolf Schneider is only 2 down the list from Robert, so maybe it was a simple error in copying the numbers.

Hello Fred,
This helps for sure, thank you very much.
I already thought that Moniroth made a typing-error but since I wasn't sure I asked.
So thanks for clearing this matter.

And since the Robert Schneider Moniroth was mentioning was working within the SS-FHA I guess he's identical to the Robert Schneider who headed Abteilung Ic within the Amtsgruppe Führung from the SS-FHA.

Hello Mike

At some point (i think it was 2007) you searched for the SS-number of Erwin Jarosch.
Have you any information about him?
Are you willing to share?

He is a very distant relative of mine (we have a common ancestor, born 1750).

Cheers
