I just came across this original newspaper cutting in my files. It refers to Jakob Kommer and shows his date of death as 18 October 1941, not 19th as noted by Phil above. It confirms his W-SS rank as Stubaf. at the time of his death.
(Nice address!)
Hope it helps.
Max.
In the Divisions-Personal-Befehl Nr.7 of SS-T-Division (12.März 1941) already lists him as SS-Stubaf.

Hello John,

I have a question concerning Rüdiger von Bodungen. I´m writing a dissertation about the juristic doctorands at the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität of Berlin between 1933 and 1945. Bodungen was one of them, but couldn´t receive his doctorate, because he died short time before. He wrote a dissertation about the war minister in the third reich. Unfortunatelly, Hitler abolished the war minister and created the Oberkommando der Wehrmacht (OKW) instead, right at the time Bodungen wanted to do his doctorate. Therfore his doctorate was delayed for almost 2 years and just before the University agreed to promote Bodungen without publishing his dissertation, Bodungen died. In addidtion to his juristic misfortune, I had to read in this forum about his fate in the lost troop. I could see with the help of the documents above, that he was part of the "Verlorener Haufen" and died in France. You wrote about an homosexual act with Klaebe. What kind of source did you use for your research? Can you tell me, in which archive you found the documents about Bodungen on this website?

Best regards,

Jaron

Jaron - I found the details concerning Bodungen's military career, homosexual offense and punishment in his official 27-page Personalakte. This file also contains a report by the commander of the SS-Totenkopf Pionier-Btl. concerning the circumstances of his death. I did not find this information on line, but on microfilm roll SSO 0081 of Series A3343 that I purchased from the US National Archives. If you wish, you can purchase a copy of von Bodungen's file from me. Send me a PM

Re: SS-Haupsturmführer Herbert Dost. He was not killed. He survived the war. He was my Mother's Dad. She was born 1942 (Kriltz). Her last time seeing him was at age 13. Her mom destroyed all photos if him. I would love a photo of him and any other military records of him. Thanks. Raymond Siegfried Kriltz. [email protected]

Several days ago Georg asked some questions about the former SS-Hstuf. degraded to SS-Mann Rüdiger von Bodungen. This is an interesting case. These are the facts according to his Personalakte. In September 1939 SS-Hstuf. von Bodungen was a Junkerschäftsführer at Bad Tölz. He was caught in a homosexual act with another officer, SS-Ostuf. Rudolf Klaebe. The commander of the Junkerschule Tölz immediately had both men arrested and turned over to the Gestapo in Munich for questioning. In less than two weeks both men were degraded to the rank of SS-Mann and kicked out of the SS. Also, they would both be imprisoned in separate concentration camps as inmates for 6 months. Bodungen was the son of a Forstmeister and nephew of SS-Obergruppenführer Johannes Taubert, the director of the SS-Schule Wewelsburg. However, before the 6 months in the K.L. was up Himmler ordered both men sent to the engineer battalion of the Totenkopf Division where they would be part of the “Verloren Haufen” or lost troop that engaged in hazardous duties such as mine clearing. See the document below.
Hello John!
I know that this post is quite old and that it has been quite a long time, but since I am a history student from Berlin and working on an oral presentation regarding the case of Rudolf Klaebe, I would be quite interested in where you found those documents, so I may use them accordingly in my research. I tried finding them through the German Bundesarchiv as well as in the Arolsen Archives but was left unsuccessful. Which left me with registering in this forum - So I would be incredibly thankful, if you could get back to me!

Greetings from Germany,

Julia
