Eddy: Yes, I will try to get through the French book Aktion T4. I have an uncle who speaks French fluidly and he will help me out a little. :)

Thanks also to Darko for posting Wirth´s "Personalangaben" and "Personal-bericht" from the Slovenian book, appreciate it.

Hello,

C. Wirth promotion did not "go through" without Problems...

In Herff Bureau find some false Data:

Enlargement because of bad Quality of Copy...

Document is important because it indicate the actual state of Wirth promotions on 30.1.1943

From Herff office they send a message to Globocnik, that it was impossible to realise all promotions till 20. April 1943 but they do all efforts to do that till 21. June 1943...

Hello,

Wirth premature Promotion for "SS-Sturmbannführer" was checked by 3 members of "Reichsicherheitshauptamt":
-von Felde
-Schwinge
-Kutter
Result was, that Promotion for "SS-Sturmbannführer" is to high favorisation for one "Kriminalrat" before 3 years of duty.
They has no Data on Wirth acting in "Action Reinhard".
But they suggest Promotion for "SS-Hauptsturmführer".

Hello,

Himmler decision on 9. July 1943 was to change Globocnik on post "SS-und Polizeiführer des Distrikt Lublin"...

Image

So he had no more so big influence on decisions about Wirth Promotion.

Himmler adjutant sent the last Letter to SS Personal Office on 19. August 1943...

Hello,

at the end comes the Answer on Letter from 19.8.1943.

There was again explanation why Wirth can not promote to "SS-Sturmbannführer".
He got promotion for "SS-Hauptsturmführer".

On 20th April 1943 Wirth got also award Iron Cross First Class with Swords.

Globocnik take Wirth with him to OZAK.

wikipedia:
" Wirth was sent to Trieste in Italy along with the other former Aktion Reinhard staff. From autumn 1943, Wirth's role was to oversee the Risiera di San Sabba concentration camp as well as to combat partisans over the border in occupied Yugoslavia. He commanded SS Task Force R, which engaged in antipartisan and anti-Jewish actions in the Trieste-Fiume-Udine area.
The Jews and partisans of this area were to be concentrated at San Sabba and eventually killed. Upon Wirth's order a crematorium was built at San Sabba."

About promotion to "SS-Sturmbahnführer":

it exist one Document dated 11. December 1943, on which is Wirth ranked as "SS-Sturmbannführer". Globocnik was again in force. And Wirth also.

Darko

Hello,

We have discovered few unpublished pictures of Wirth in uniform during his activity in Italy.
If interested you can find them in our new book, along with several previously unpublished pictures of Oberhauser, Hackenholt, Hirtreiter, Allers and other former Aktion Reinhard members and related personalities such as Lerch, Blankenburg, Weimann, Mundhenke etc.etc.
Also Wirth activities in Italy and his death are dealt in depth.

So, exactly what date did Wirth get promoted to SS-Sturmbannführer, and what date was he promoted to Polizeimajor then? This is all very confusing!
Max.

The problem lays with a conflict between his civil service rank (Kriminalrat) and his promotion to SS-Stubaf.
I notice that BBL 30/43 says Wirth was officially promoted SS-Hstuf. on 21 June 1943, which was the official equivalent of Kriminalrat. If he was to be promoted SS-Stubaf. then his civil service rank would also have to go up a notch to Regierungsrat or Regierungs- und Kriminalrat.
His obituary in BBL 36/44 states he was SS-Hstuf. KR.

That said, I seem to recall a photo of Wirth in SS uniform with the 4 star collar patch of a SS-Stubaf. Was he a SS-Stubaf. Uniformträger?
