Hello,

Dr. Walter Machule was from 19. May 1941 also chief of Strafabteilung (penal, criminal department). This Department was established by Lurker and hold office in Marburg/Maribor, Tappainerplatz. Machule deputy was Dr. Greil from SD Graz, Austria.

After few months Department was moved to Court Marburg/Maribor and new Chief of Department was Dr. Karl Swoboda from SD Graz. Deputy stayed Dr. Günther Greil.

Hello Georges,

Dr Walter Machule left Marburg duties "herbst 42" and was replaced by Stubaf Dr Georg Umpfenbach.

Machule Walter was transferred in sept 1944 to Katowiz ( Kattowitz).

Note Unwcc wanted list.

Hello,
The career path doesn't match (Dr. Walther already Regierungs-Assessor in 1937), so they must be different persons. Maybe father and son?

An opinion of Machule by his successor in Graz:
SS-Stubaf. RR Walter Machule: “Was chief of Gestapo Graz until April 1941, then for three years legal adviser of Lurker [KdS Maribor (Marburg)]. In April 1944 transferred to KdS Bordeaux. Was last seen in December 1944 in Graz. An irresponsible, lazy drunkard who contributed heavily towards the high record of brutality of the Lurker region”.
